being sick sucks

So I have Been sick since Sunday night....I had a swollen tonsil that hurt like hell. We were supposed to visit our friend Jenna on Monday, her little boy ended up being sick so we had to cancel, which was a good thing because I was not feeling good at all! I went to the doctor and he said it was just a virus and that it would get better in a couple of days....well it didn't it got worse. It was awful. And to top it off it was our 8th wedding anniversary on Wednesday and I was SICK! We are going out of town this weekend with our best couple friends to celebrate our anniversary and I just didn't want to be sick! Luckily I feel 100% better today!!! (I will do an anniversary post when we get back from our trip)

School starts back up in two weeks, and I am not ready to go back to work. Derek is having shoulder surgery from a work related injury, and it is going to be hard to handle everything myself. Plus Sully is going through the stage where he cries whenever we leave him, so daycare will not be fun!

So, I realize this post is super uplifting (sarcasm)...but I will at least leave you with some summer pictures!
Sullivan's first doughnut...I think he likes it!

Dino Dig at the zoo with the boy's cousins

Question, I heard a mom at the zoo telling her little boy, who really badly wanted to play at the dino dig, that he was never allowed to play there because that is where Bobby got sick.....I felt horrible for that kid. First of all, there is no way to prove that is where Bobby got sick, and second of all you can get sick from anything, anywhere....so how is that a realistic option. Thoughts?
                                                           Waiting for the bird show

I cannot believe that I almost forgot to post this..............BENJAMIN IS POTTY TRAINED!!! We started two Mondays ago, we had two days of accident after accident, and right after we were going to give up, he started going in the potty, by himself and even closing the door because he wanted privacy! So he is officially potty trained during the day. At night we put pull ups on him. He sleeps for almost 12 hours, so we are a little nervous about the night time potty thing! Sometimes he wakes up dry, and sometimes he doesn't... but he always wakes up from a nap dry...so we are getting there! I am so proud of him!!!!

Pictures!!!

Welcome to my blog, thanks for joining me in SUYL...displaying pictures!

I love my pictures here! I think I need a small table below though, what do you think?

This is our bedroom! I am obsessed with shelves, I love them and I love decorating them.

The back of our couch in our living room. The frame with the hand prints and foot prints
was my mother's day gift that my hubby thought of all by himself...very pinterest of him!
I love it!!!

This is where I put all of our "nice" photographs...meaning the ones that we have professionally taken.

I need to add pictures, or something, to our hallway..but we are in an older home and the hallway is very narrow...so I am hoping I get some ideas while looking through your posts! Oh, and I just started with SUYL last week so below is a post that includes pictures of pretty much my whole house, so take a look.

SUYL Home Tour

I have been wanting to post pictures of my house, but have not been able to find the time...I feel like our house has been looking crazy lately because we have been out of town a lot lately. I would love to give you a "tour" of my home....let me start at the beginning....we had a house fire in December of 2009, 5 days before Christmas. It was a very tragic event that really changed our lives. It is hard to explain the feelings/emotions we felt while going through that experience. It brought us closer together as a family and we can now say that it was a blessing in a big disguise...because now, after rebuilding from the frame up, we have a very beautiful home!

Here are a few pictures from the fire....It was in our attic so the whole top of our house was completely burnt...a firetruck just happened to be driving by and saw the smoke (we were not home) and drove down our street! They said that if it would have been just 3 more minutes the house would have literally exploded...which could have been really bad for our neighbors! One of our neighbors did call 911 and they though we were home and were really freaking out. She was also really worried about our dog, which she told the firemen about right away when they go there...now...the pictures...ha, sorry about that rant...I have never really blogged about the fire.

Here is my new home!!!!
Living Room

(our "foyer"...or lack there of LOL)

Boy's room

Benjamin's room....which you will not see. His big boy bed is being delivered today!!!

Guest/boy's bathroom

It is small...and I am sick of the decor....I think I am going to change it soon...Keep the blue color but add more grey...

Master Bedroom

My husband is very handy. That mirror you see is hinged to the wall and you can swing it out so I can check my outfit! Seriously best idea ever!!!

That door on the left goes into our small bathroom...and then there is a door across from it that goes into our LARGE closet....lol

Kitchen
We have an eat it kitchen...no dining room....and yes my husband also sets up his computer for his video gaming...lame I KNOW! lol

The cutest part of my kitchen :)

Family Room

And...because we are real...the toys hidden by the couch :)

So.. that is my house...minus our backyard...which maybe I will post pictures about later! I know it was home overload, but I hope you enjoyed!!!

Activity Time

I have been trying to find a new and fun activity for the boys (Sullivan 1 and Benjamin 3) to do every morning. Sometimes it is playing legos, going to the park, playing with the water table, making a craft or even helping me clean  (which for the record they think is super fun). I thought I would try to do a post every once in a while of the most successful activities....I know I get in ruts all the time when it comes to finding things to do with toddlers, so I am hoping to meet new people through blogging so we can give each other ideas to do Whit kiddos.

#1: Pipe cleaners, playdough and beads!!
Who would have thought that this activity would have a: lasted so long and b: been so much fun! The boys loved it. I bought the pipe cleaners at target in the dollar spot (score!) we had playdough, and I just bought Ben some large beads for his birthday. I set all of them out on their Little table and they went to town. Ben made "bugs" and Sully copied Ben..... So fun! I even got in on the action and I had fun too! The boys stayed busy with this for 45 minutes to 1 hour! I call that a success.

#2 Dino Eggs

You will need flour, water, cotton balls, and food coloring....all you do is mix 2 cups of flour with 2 cups of water, separate into different bowls and add food coloring. Then dip the cotton balls in the mixture completely. Lay them on a foil lined cookie sheet and bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour....I did mine for an hour. They come out hard. I let my boys use their play hammers to break them, but to be honest Benjamin preferred sorting them by colors and carrying them around in a basket. Sullivan liked placing them in a bowl, dumping them out, then starting all over.

#3: Baking sugar cookies
We do this OFTEN. It is super easy and you can do so much with sugar cookies! We make them from scratch, but it would be the same concepts if you bought the dough and just rolled it out. Make ANY shape....make letters....ANYTHING! Of course eating them is fun too!

So....what do you do with your little one for fun???? What is your little one in to????
